Welcome to the quilting page! We'll be choosing our name soon!
Getting Started
I have been interested in starting a quilting group for quite some time. We will each be making a 30x45 inch quilt for the Rogue Valley Medical Center's NICU. We would be considered a charity/volunteer group, so there may be some opportunity for accepting donations for fabrics, notions and even sewing machines.
Our group will meet for monthly or bi-weekly meetings at either my home or a central location and you will be responsible for working on your own quilt throughout the month. There will be expert quilters, hobby quilters, or even some that have never sewn before. We will all bring our love of quilting and mesh that with love and compassion for the little babies in the NICU and their families. There is no pressure to complete the quilts by a certain time. Everyone can move at their own pace and members can even team up to work on one quilt.
I will be available to answer any questions you might have. Patterns can be requested or you can design your own. At the meetings, myself (or anyone else) will share "show-and-tell" style, a tip or tutorial to present to all members. That tip/tutorial will also be posted online on the Facebook group page or here on my blog for those of you following from afar.
For those of you who would like to participate but live too far away to attend meetings, please join anyway! You can ask some friends to join you and create a charter group or just sew on your own, while following our group to be created on Facebook.
Feel free to invite your own friends to join you! I will be looking for a location large enough to house us- that's why I need some definite replies soon. I hope to hear back from you! If you would like communication about this through email rather than Facebook, private message me and I will add you to the mailing list!
Let's have some fun together for a good cause! Have suggestions? Want to be a leader in the group? Just let me know!
